Accessibility statement: Virre Information Service

The Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) works constantly to improve the accessibility of the service. We will update the statement as accessibility problems are corrected.

The PRH is committed to making the Virre Information Service accessible in accordance with the Finnish Act on the Provision of Digital Services (laki digitaalisten palvelujen tarjoamisesta 306/2019Open link in a new tab, lag om tillhandahållande av digitala tjänster 306/2019Open link in a new tab).

How the accessibility statement was compiled

This statement was compiled on 2 September 2020. The statement is based on

  • an assessment carried out by a third party
  • our own assessment that most of the problems the third party discovered in their assessment have been corrected according to the instructions of the third party.

The statement was last revised on 17 March 2021.

How accessible this service is

This online service is only partially compliant with the Finnish Act on the Provision of Digital Services 306/2019, due to the non-compliance listed below.

Inaccessible content

The content listed below is not accessible due to non-compliance with the Finnish Act on the Provision of Digital Services (306/2019).

The following content or functions are not yet compliant with the requirements (according to the WCAG criteria), but the problems will be corrected:

  1. (WCAG 1.1.1, 2.4.6) There are defects in the text alternatives for image links and buttons.
  2. (WCAG 1.3.1, 2.4.2) HTML heading levels are in most cases used correctly, but on some pages the levels are used neither logically nor illustratively.
  3. (WCAG 1.3.1, 2.4.1, 2.4.4) Not all elements on the page are programmatically determined.
  4. (WCAG 1.3.1) There is a large number of empty cells in the table. A screen reader does not distinguish Contact details as a heading.
  5. (WCAG 1.3.1) In tables, the selected state of the page is not told to the screen reader user.
  6. (WCAG 1.3.2) The focus of a VoiceOver screen reader moves to the beginning of the whole page, which is why the user has to navigate through the page to find the search results.
  7. (WCAG 1.1.1, 1.3.1) The lock icon does not have an alt attribute. The existence or the meaning of the grey cell is not conveyed to screen reader users.
  8. (WCAG 2.4.7) Some website elements have problems with visible focus.
  9. (WCAG 1.3.2) The instructions about the displayed matter are not read for the screen reader until after everything else, which means they easily go unnoticed.
  10. (WCAG 4.1.3) The feedback text is not displayed long enough for the reader to have time to read it and for the screen reader to read it aloud.
  11. (WCAG 1.4.3, 1.4.11) There are deficiencies in the contrasts between the text and the background.
  12. (WCAG 1.3.1, 3.3.2) There are deficiencies in the label structure on the page Extracts, certificates and organisation rules.
  13. (WCAG 1.3.5) There are form input fields in the service to collect personal details of users, but their exact purpose has not been specified.
  14. (WCAG 1.3.1, 4.1.2) The Listbox element is neither accessible nor easy to use.
  15. (Accessibility in general) All of the error messages are structurally separate one-element lists, when they should be in one list.
  16. (WCAG: several) PDF documents do not have a code structure, meaning they have no content semantic structure for screen readers to understand.
  17. (WCAG 2.4.6, 3.2.4, 4.1.2) There are deficiencies in the name of the Log in button.
  18. (WCAG 3.1.1) On the Log in, Forgotten password and Change password pages, the language is not determined.
  19. (WCAG 3.1.2) On the Log in page, the language links do not have a language determined.
  20. (WCAG 1.3.1) On the Log in page after the logo link, there is an invisible h4 heading "Kirjaudu" in Finnish.
  21. (WCAG 2.4.6, 3.1.2) On the Log in, Forgotten password, and Change password pages, there are defects in reading error messages with a screen reader.
  22. (WCAG 2.4.6, 3.1.2) In the 320 px (mobile) view, there is a menu button that seems to be obsolete on the Forgotten password and Change password pages.
  23. (WCAG 3.3.2) On the Forgotten password page, the calculation result is only accepted as a number. This is not told to the user.
  24. (WCAG 2.4.2) On the Log in, Forgotten password, and Change password pages, there are no illustrative and unique page titles.

The PRH will do its best to make the inaccessible content accessible during 2021–2022.
