Watch out for misleading letters and payment reminders

Trademark applicants and owners unfortunately receive many misleading letters, false invoices and payment reminders.

Most of the letters are in English and come from abroad, but some letters may also be sent from Finland and in Finnish.

The letters may demand, for example, that you pay a renewal fee or a separate registration fee.

Read the message carefully before you pay or commit yourself to anything. All our letters always clearly include: FINNISH PATENT AND REGISTRATION OFFICE (PATENTTI- JA REKISTERIHALLITUS).

We publish information about misleading letters and payment reminders on a regular basis on this website and in our newsroom where we send news releases to the media. Go to news releases to the media in our newsroom. Open link in a new tab
