Our organisation and duties

The Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) comes under the administrative branch of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment (MEAE). Mr Antti Riivari, Director General, is responsible for the PRH’s result, assisted by the Management Group and the Management Working Committee.

The Patents and Trademarks result area is in charge of patents and utility models, as well as trademarks and design rights. The Director of the result area is Mr Jorma Hanski.

The duties of the Enterprises and Corporations result area include the Trade Register, financial statements, LEI codes, enterprise mortgages, approval and oversight of auditors, the Register of Associations, the Register of Religious Communities, the Register of Foundations and supervision of foundations as well as monitoring of organisations for collective management of copyright. The Director of the Enterprises and Corporations result area is Mr Lalli Knuutila.

The Customer Services and Communications result area is responsible for customer advisory services, communications, UX and translation services in Finnish, Swedish and English. The Director of the result area is Ms Anna Lauttamus-Kauppila.

The HR and Administration result area is responsible for administrative services, legal services and HR services. The Director of the result area is Ms Minna Mattila.

The Information Management result area is in charge of ICT services and digitalisation at the PRH. The Director of the result area is Ms Sari Kuisma-Kari.

The Finance and Planning result area is responsible for financial administration as well as for planning, risk management and knowledge management at the PRH. The director of the result area is Ms Riikka Harjula.

The Management Support team supports the Director General and other directors, e.g., in legislation matters.

All our result areas work to improve legislation in their particular branches and prepare statements, regulations and instructions.
