Our organisation and duties

The Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) comes under the administrative branch of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment (MEAE).

The Patents and Trademarks result area is in charge of patents and utility models, as well as trademarks and design rights.

The duties of the Enterprises and Corporations result area include the Trade Register, financial statements, LEI codes, enterprise mortgages, approval and oversight of auditors, the Register of Associations, the Register of Religious Communities, the Register of Foundations and supervision of foundations as well as monitoring of organisations for collective management of copyright.

The PRH organisation also includes the result areas Customer Services and Communications and Shared Services, which are responsible for customer advisory services, customer experience, communications, administrative services and ICT services. Digitalisation and the promotion thereof at the PRH are included in the duties of the ICT Development Unit.

All our result areas work to improve legislation in their particular branches and prepare statements, regulations and instructions. The Director General is responsible for the PRH’s result, assisted by the Management Group and the Management Working Committee.
