Minors in general partnerships and limited partnerships

A minor can be a partner if their guardians represent them in joining a company, and the guardians have permission from the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV), which is the Finnish guardianship authority. Minors often need their guardians’ backing and permission to become a silent partner. Enclose evidence of permission from the guardianship authority (DVV) with your Trade Register notification. The evidence can be, for example, an extract of the granted permission. Do not send extracts that contain personal identity codes, home addresses, or sensitive details.

If the guardian is a partner in the same company, the guardian cannot represent the minor in concluding the partnership agreement. In addition, the guardian cannot represent the minor if the guardian and the minor have otherwise conflicting interests in the situation. In such a case, the guardian must apply for a substitute, either from the guardianship authority (DVV) or a court of law.
