TMclass – a tool for classifying goods and services
TMclass is a database that helps you to search for and classify goods and services. It also helps you to choose the correct terms to describe your goods and services. The database contains tens of thousands of terms in Finnish, Swedish and English approved by the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH).
TMclass is maintained by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) together with national authorities.
The "Search term" option is useful when you are not sure of the best way to describe your goods and services.
How to search
- Choose the language from the drop down menu.
- Enter a description of your goods and services in the text box (search term), for example “real estate brokerage".
- Press the Search button.
You can only search for one term at a time with the "Search term" option.
If you enter multiple search words such as “babies nappies", the search engine looks for occurrences of both “babies" and “nappies" in any order. It does not look for classification descriptions with either “babies" or “nappies".
To include plurals in the search (“babies" and “baby"), enter the stem (“bab").
Use the "Browse terms" function (under the Search button on the right) if you want to view all the classes and browse both the classes and the terms under each class.

Create your list of goods and services with the Goods and Services Builder
Create your list of goods and services by using the EUIPO's Goods and Services Builder. This tool is a convenient way to prepare your list before drawing up your application. If you log in to the EUIPO’s service, you can save the list in your user area. You can then copy the list to your application when you need it.
You can add terms of goods and services by writing them yourself or by using the search function and choosing terms from the database.
