No specimen is needed for the application

You do not need to have a specimen when you apply to register your design. If you nevertheless choose to include a specimen in your application and it is somehow inconsistent with the illustrations you have filed, we take the design from the specimen, not the illustrations.

If you originally filed your application with a specimen only, you will have to submit the photographs or drawings for the application later.

The illustrations and the specimen must always show the same design.

If you want to include a specimen in your application, it must be made of a durable and harmless material that does not go bad. The specimen must not exceed 40 centimetres (15.6 in.) in any dimension or weigh more than 4 kilograms (8 lb 13 oz).
