Digital financial statements of limited liability companies to the Finnish Trade Register

Limited liability companies can submit their financial statements to the Finnish Trade Register in digital IXBRL format.

Digital financial statements are filed online using IXBRL (Inline eXtensible Business Reporting Language). Financial statements in IXBRL format display the information in a uniform manner according to standards and classifications. This reduces, for example, the risk of essential information being left out of the financial statements.

When to file

File the financial statements with the Finnish Trade Register within eight months from the end of the financial period.

If you file the digital financial statements with the Trade Register by the tax return deadline, you do not have to send the financial statements to the Finnish Tax Administration separately, as the Finnish Tax Administration will automatically receive digital financial statements from the PRH if you have filed them by the deadline.

This procedure will not change the deadline for details filed with the Finnish Tax Administration. If a company files their financial statements with the Trade Register after the tax return deadline, the company may also have to file the financial statements with the Finnish Tax Administration separately. Go to our instructions: Filing financial statements with tax returns.

What does it cost?

Filing is free of charge for eight months from the end of the financial period.

The late filing fee is 100 euros. Go to our instructions: Filing financial statements late.

How to file

File the digital financial statements online with the Trade Register using an accounting software that uses an IXBRL interface.

Send the necessary IXBRL documents using the software. Go to our instructions: Financial statement documents.

Please note: Send all documents in IXBRL format using the accounting software. Do not send PDF documents to the PRH or the Finnish Tax Administration. See also How to complete and revise financial statements below.

How to monitor the progress of your notification

As soon as the financial statements have been registered, a register extract will be sent to the company’s mailing address, as recorded in the Finnish Trade Register.

The details in the financial statements are publicly available on the PRH Virre information service. Go to the Virre service.Open link in a new tab

Several service providers use the financial statement details. Read more about our co-operation partners providing financial statement details.

How to complete and revise financial statements

You can complete or revise digital financial statements you have sent to the Trade Register online. Resend all financial statement documents in IXBRL format using the accounting software.

Please note: Do not send PDF documents to the PRH or the Finnish Tax Administration.

Software companies: use our IXBRL financial statement interface

Digital IXBRL financial statements can be filed with the Trade Register using an accounting software that uses the PRH financial statement interface.

The PRH does not provide a customer software to use the interface. Therefore, the software companies must create a sufficient function in their own accounting software to be able send the IXBRL financial statements to the Trade Register.

The interface can be used free of charge.
