Changes to fees for commercial patent, trademark and design services from 1 January 2024
Due to higher labour costs, database costs and other fixed costs, the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) will increase some of the fees for commercial patent, trademark and design services from 1 January 2024. The fees were last revised in 2020.
Changes to fees for commercial patent services
The changes to the patent search service fees are provided below. The current fee is given in brackets. VAT of 24% will be added to all fees.
- Novelty search, report on the state of the art, validity search and information search, with an hourly charge
- Basic fee €200 (current fee €170)
- Fee for work per hour €160 (€130)
- Online preliminary examination of the invention
- Basic fee, includes 90 minutes of examination €400 (€325)
- Additional fee for each extra 15 minutes of examination after the 90 minutes included in the basic fee €40 (€32.50)
- Fixed-price novelty search €1,160 (€950)
- Patentability report €1,160 (€950)
- Comment on the contents of cited documents €400 (€325)
- Freedom to operate search €2,440 (fixed price instead of hourly charge)
Changes to fees for commercial trademark and design services
The changes to fees for trademark and design examinations and information searches are provided below. The current fee is given in brackets. VAT of 24% will be added to all fees.
- Trademark consultation and separate services, fee for work per hour €100 (current fee €75)
- Design consultation and separate services, fee for work per hour €100 (€75)
- Preliminary examination of designs, basic fee €100 (€65)
The new fees will be published on the prh.fi website on 1 January 2024.
