PRH requests investigation of suspected scam site

The Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) has asked the police to investigate a suspected scam website with the address traderegistry.fi. The website has been published in several languages, including Finnish, and its title is Finland Trade Registry.

The website poses as an information service and gives the impression that it is possible to search for and buy Trade Register extracts and companies’ articles of associations, financial statements and other documents on the site. The document prices vary from several dozen to a few hundred euros.

The PRH always wants to warn its customers about possible scam websites. In this case, there is a significant risk that the English site, in particular, could mislead those who require information from the Finnish Trade Register. The PRH considers the matter serious enough to file a request for investigation with the police.

The site has nothing to do with the Finnish Trade Register maintained by the PRH and the Virre Information Service. Extracts and documents from the Finnish Trade Register are available in the Virre Information Service where you can download a Trade Register extract free of charge and buy documents such as articles of associations and financial statements.
