Fil­ing fi­nan­cial state­ments with the Finnish Trade Reg­is­ter

The law requires companies to file their financial statements with the Trade Register. Companies must also make sure that all financial statement documents required by law are being filed.

Please note: By law, the financial statements must be filed even if the company is inactive, or it has not conducted any actual business during the financial period.

Which companies must file financial statements with the Trade Register?

Most companies must file their financial statements with the Trade Register.

Which companies do not need to file?

The following companies do not need to file their financial statements with the Trade Register:

  • housing companies;
  • tenant-owners' societies;
  • housing co-operatives; and
  • mutual real estate limited companies.

Usually, private traders do not need to file their financial statements with the Trade Register.

What does it cost?

​Filing financial statements by the deadline is free of charge if you use the online service at ytj.fi. The online service is available in Finnish and Swedish.

The PRH imposes a fee for financial statements filed late with the Finnish Trade Register. Read more: Fee for financial statements filed late.

How do I know if the financial statements have been registered?

​As soon as the financial statements have been registered, a register extract will be sent to the company’s mailing address recorded in the Finnish Business Information System at ytj.fi.

LLCs and co-ope­ra­ti­ves

‍You have not filed your financial statements with the Trade Register.

You pay a fee for late submission.

In addition, your company may be removed from the Finnish Trade Register or be ordered into liquidation. Companies risking deregistration receive a reminder letter to the company’s mailing address recorded in the Finnish Business Information System at ytj.fi.
