Changes to fees for commercial patent services from 1 January 2026
Due to higher costs, the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) has increased some of the fees for commercial patent services from 1 January 2026. The fees were last revised in 2024.
The changes to the patent search service fees are provided below. The previous fee is given in brackets.
VAT of 25.5% will be added to all fees.
- Novelty search, report on the state of the art, validity search and information search, with an hourly charge
- Basic fee €215 (current fee €200)
- Fee for work per hour €175 (€160)
- Online preliminary examination of the invention €440 (€400)
- Fixed-price novelty search €1,265 (€1,160)
- Patentability report €1,265 (€1,160)
- Comment on the contents of cited documents €440 (€400)
- Freedom to operate search €2,670 (€2,440)
The new fees have been published on the prh.fi website on 1 January 2026.
