Privacy statement for PRH’s communication and marketing
This privacy statement describes how the PRH processes personal data on its services and activities for communication and marketing. The PRH processes personal data as part of the management of its official duties.

Purpose and legal basis of processing personal data
The PRH processes personal data on its services and activities for the following communication and marketing purposes:
- sending of marketing messages
- reaching of media and stakeholder representatives
- sending of invitations to events
- organisation of events
- sending of bulletins
- sending of newsletters
- sending of prizes to winners in customer survey prize draws.
The legal basis for the processing of personal data depends on the intended use of the personal data. Processing of personal data is based on the performance of a task carried out in the public interest specified in Article 6(1)(e) of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (679/2016)
- when personal data is processed for stakeholder cooperation and communication. Reaching stakeholders requires the processing of personal data. The task carried out in the public interest is described in detail in section 2 of the Act on the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (578/2013).
- for consent under Article 6(1)(a) when personal data is processed for the purpose of receiving newsletters and bulletins for data subjects that are not stakeholders.
Personal data storage periods
The storage periods of the personal data processed in connection with communication and marketing vary in accordance with the intended use of the personal data.
The details of the bulletin and newsletter recipients are stored as long as the consent for receiving them remains in effect.
The details of the invitees and attendees to events are stored for two years.
Contact details of the media and stakeholder representatives are stored as long as they remain up to date and are required for processing.
Details of the persons taking part in customer survey prize draws are stored until the prizes have been sent to the winners.
Personal data processed by the PRH
The personal data content may vary depending on the intended use of the personal data.
The following personal data is processed in connection with communication and marketing:
- identity data (name, year of birth)
- contact information (mailing address, email, telephone number)
- other details (position in the organisation, diet).
As a rule, the PRH does not process special categories of personal data referred to in the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation.
Regular data sources
As a rule, we obtain the personal data from the PRH’s systems, public data sources or the data subjects themselves.
Disclosure of data
As a rule, no data is disclosed to third parties.
Transfer of data to countries outside the EU or the EEA
No personal data is transferred outside the EU or the EEA or to international organisations.
Automated decision-making
No personal data is used for automated decision-making.
Rights of the data subject
Right of access to your own data and right to rectification of data
The event registration confirmation message and the bulletin or newsletter email contains a link that you can use to check and change your own details.
You have the right to check which information on you has been processed in the PRH’s communication and marketing or to check that your details have not been processed. You also have the right to request the rectification of incorrect or inaccurate data on you.
Your request should contain the following:
- the messages that you have received from the PRH
- the address to which you have received the messages
- the data that you want to rectify.

Be prepared to prove your identity.
Right to deletion of data
You have the right to request that the PRH deletes your personal data that is processed on the basis of your consent. In that case, the PRH must delete your details without undue delay.
Your request should contain the following:
- the messages that you have received from the PRH (that you no longer want to receive)
- the address to which you have received the messages.

Be prepared to prove your identity.
Restrictions on the data subject’s rights
If the processing of the personal data is based on the performance of a task carried out by the PRH in the public interest, you cannot request the deletion of your personal data or its transfer to another system and, as a rule, you cannot object to the processing of your personal data.
Right to submit a complaint to the supervisory authority
If you consider that your personal data is processed unlawfully, you can submit a complaint to the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman.
