Instructions for persons whose personal identity code or passport details have been available for purchase in Virre Information Service
A total of 3,495 purchases related to Trade Register notifications in which the documents erroneously included personal identity codes and passport copies as public information were made in the Virre Information Service. Read more about the incident.
What to do if you suspect or know that documents containing your personal identity code or passport details were available for purchase in Virre.
1. Check if your details are registered at the Finnish Trade Register
Check first if you are registered for a position of responsibility (role) in your company:
You can see your current positions of responsibility (roles) entered in the Finnish Trade Register by logging into the service at suomi.fi. The service is free of charge. To use the online service, you need to have a Finnish personal identity code and either personal internet banking codes, a mobile certificate, or an electronic identity card (HST card). You can see your current and previous positions (roles) entered in the Finnish Trade Register by searching for your details using the person search in the Virre Information Service. The person search costs €3.22, which is paid in the service. Go to the Virre service. Open link in a new tab
You can also carry out a person search free of charge by calling the PRH’s Customer Service number. Our customer service number is +358 29 509 5200. The service hours are as follows: Mon–Fri 9.00–15.00.
2. Check if you have otherwise been involved in a company’s operations
If you have otherwise been involved in a company’s operations (for example, as a shareholder), check whether said company is affected:
3. After you have checked your details, proceed as follows
My details are in the register
Find out if the company that has filed your details with the Finnish Trade Register (or the company with which you have otherwise been involved) is among the companies whose notification documents were erroneously available for purchase in Virre.
My details are not registered
If your details are not in the Finnish Trade Register and the list does not include the company with which you have been involved, your personal identity code and passport details were not available for purchase in Virre.
You do not need to take any further action.
4.After you have checked the companies, proceed as follows
The company is on the list
If the company is on the list, call the PRH’s Customer Service number to find out what action to take:

Prepare for the strong identification process during the call. You will need a Finnish personal identity code and either personal internet banking codes, a mobile certificate, or an electronic identity card (HST card).
The company is not on the list
If the company that filed your details is not on the list, your personal identity code and passport details were not available for purchase in Virre.
You do not need to take any further action.
5. If your personal identity code or passport details were available for purchase in Virre, proceed as follows
Please note that said documents have been encrypted and can no longer be purchased in Virre.
It is most unlikely but possible that erroneously disclosed personal identity codes are misused.
Proceed as follows:
- File a prohibition of registration, which means that you ask the PRH not to register you as a person responsible for a company, association or foundation without your consent. Prohibition of registration is free of charge. Go to file the prohibition of registration.
- Based on case-by-case consideration, the PRH can offer Suomen Asiakastieto Oy’s Minun Omatietoni service for two years. If necessary, you can contact the PRH’s Customer Service number, tel. +358 29 509 5200, services hours: Mon–Fri 9.00–15.00.
