Library

The Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) works constantly to improve the accessibility of the service. We will update the statement as accessibility problems are corrected.

The PRH is committed to making the PRH’s library accessible in accordance with the Finnish Act on the Provision of Digital Services (laki digitaalisten palvelujen tarjoamisesta 306/2019Open link in a new tab, lag om tillhandahållande av digitala tjänster 306/2019Open link in a new tab).

How the accessibility statement was compiled

This statement was compiled on 30 June 2023. The statement is based on an assessment carried out by a third party. The statement was last revised on 30 January 2024.

How accessible this service is

This online service is only partially compliant with the Finnish Act on the Provision of Digital Services 306/2019, due to the non-compliance listed below.

Inaccessible content

The following content or functions are not yet compliant with the requirements (according to the WCAG criteria), but the problems will be corrected:

  1. (WCAG 1.4.1, 3.2.4) The links in the footer are not sufficiently distinguishable from the body text.
  2. (WCAG 1.4.3) The contrast between button text and the background colour is not sufficient.
  3. (WCAG 1.4.4) Some of the visual elements do not scale successfully when only the text size is increased by 200% larger than usual.
  4. (WCAG 1.3.1) Some headings are missing heading indicators.
  5. (WCAG 1.1.1, 2.4.4, 2.5.3, 3.1.2, 1.4.5) The visual elements of the header are missing a text alternative.
  6. (WCAG 1.3.1) The active element of the sorting method for search results has not been determined programmatically.
  7. (WCAG 2.4.4) Links that open in a new tab have not been determined sufficiently clearly.
  8. (WCAG 2.4.2) The more exact website title shown as part of the page title is missing. In addition, some page titles are in English regardless of the language version of the page.
  9. (WCAG 3.3.1) In form errors, the visual focus and the focus of the screen reader and keyboard remain on a button, although the error message appears at the top of the form. Also, the error message is not read aloud for screen reader users. In addition, the erroneous fields have not been determined visually or programmatically.
  10. (WCAG 3.3.2) Mandatory form fields have not been determined in the advanced search or in the ‘Send’ function.
  11. (WCAG 1.3.2) The screen reader focus does not stay inside the modal dialogue opened by the language menu. Instead, it jumps to the page that is open.
  12. (WCAG 1.3.2, 2.4.3) Screen reader users are moved from the ‘Show more’ buttons in accordion elements and facets directly to the ‘Show less’ button, meaning that screen reader users must navigate back to read the content revealed from the accordion.
  13. (WCAG 1.3.2) In the pagination element, the screen reader gets the screen reader focus 6 times before the user gets to the active ‘Go to next page’ link.
  14. (WCAG 2.4.4) The links of the pagination element have the texts ‘Go to next page’/‘Go to previous page’, although the texts ‘Go to next book’/‘Go to next publication’ describe the link destination better.
  15. (WCAG 1.3.2) The search instructions appear in the screen reader’s reading order after the search function.
